Research

Research is a major aspect of our mission at Johns Hopkins. Major studies that are currently ongoing using CT include:

CORE 320

This is a multi-center, multi-national trial following on the heels of our landmark CORE 64 study which compared CT angiography to conventional invasive angiography. The current study compares CT measurement of myocardial perfusion along with CT angiography,  to SPECT along with cardiac catheterization. Enrollment is complete. PI: Joao Lima, M.D.

Studies of Myocardial Perfusion and Viability

CT PerfusionThis is a series of experimental and clinical studies designed to investigate potential utility of CT for measuring the extent of irreversible injury after myocardial infarction (and thus, residual tissue viability), and for measuring myocardial blood flow under conditions of rest and pharmacologic vasodilatation. PI: Al Lardo, Ph. D.

STABILIZE

This is a CT based study of the effects of anti-angiogenesis agents on carotid and coronary plaque.
